Brown paint or glue in oil filter?
« on: June 16, 2025, 16:20:18 »
Hello everyone, strange question. I’m currently changing the oil on my v strom. Opened the new oil filter but noticed this solid residue inside it? Is this normal??? Anyone have idea?

I guess somewhere along the line the paper element is glued and that is the excess. If the filter is a reputable name I would still use it............

The name is Hendler…. I expected it to be HiFlo as I bought from my usual supplier. Never heard of Hendler filters. But yeah. I thought the brown was glue. Hm… to use or not to use. That is the question.

Hi
I would not use it, and ask for an exchange to Hi-Flo

I buy the manufacturers air and oil filters. Other filters may be cheaper but I believe I am getting a quality product.

Thanks Fellas. I got a hiflo and this one is going to get fecked.
Literally £2 cheaper. Bike is now freshly oiled, chain freshly lubed and the entire thing is ready for another few thousand miles. Time for my monthly shower.

Glad you're happy.  :thumb:

Personally I didn't see a problem.
So how's it going so far then?
