Adventure Cross AX 41's
« on: June 10, 2025, 07:11:43 »
First post after introduction so please bear with me  :)

Recently picked up the '09 650X. I noticed on first viewing the bike the front tyre was worn excessively. Rear was fine. When I returned the seller had fitted a brand new Bridegstone AX41 Adventure Cross to the front. Much appreciated but wow that thing looks aggressive compared to the Trailwing rear. I believe the speed rating is also now 99mph. My question is do I go more agressive on the new rear tyre or more road bias at the front? Have any others fitted the AX41 adventure cross tyres and what are their findings? I must admit do like the look, particularly for the X model but I'm rarely if ever off road. Cheers.

Welcome,
The AX41 is fine when matched to an AX rear...but ...they will be less grippy on the road than a purely road tyre.
If riding in the wet a lot with a pair of those , you will have to be aware and slow down a bit on the corners.
That is with a pair....with just the AX front I would be VERY careful till you get a matched pair of either type , Ax or Trailwings.
For pure road I like Michelin Road 6s, they will do easy dry trails if you are careful, shite in mud ..obvs

Appreciate the advice Nigel S. Puts things into perspective thankyou. I am starting to think for this bike something more akin to the trailwing rear is the way to go. I will put the approx 50 mile old AX Adventure cross on Ebay once I source a replacement. Or maybe If someone here would like to buy it £50 + p/p?

I wouldn't use the AX for road use, The A41 is very competent.

I have gone for the AT41 front. If that stands for Adventure Touring then can't be too far off.

Adventure Trail, the AT41 looks a good option as a heavily road biased tyre that can handle a little light off road if the mood takes you whilst also looking a bit more adventure bike appropriate on the aesthetic front.
Very much the Bridgestone version of the Anakee Adventure and I'm about to fit my 3rd set of those which have proved great for anything I've encountered.
Happy maybe trails 😀

Many thanks Rixington. Had several "adventure" based bikes over the years and I am a big fan of having a tyre that at leasts looks "off road" when the bike clearly nods to that. These have ranged from TKC 80s, Metzeler Tourance's and several Mitas variants. I have removed perfectly useable 100% road based tyres and even walked away from buying adventure bikes that have them fitted.
