2011 Glee Seat
« on: May 27, 2025, 18:24:18 »
Silly question time with a little "lead in" info to set the scene . . .

Neighbour collected a 2011 registered Glee from south of the wall over the weekend and this afternoon he popped in by mine to proudly display his new steed . . . and very nice it is too in burnt orange, sporting a nice burbling GPR exhaust can. Anyone on here know it - registration ending in DLV?

Now, me being me, I start asking about this and taht and "what's it like under the seat?"
one-lock the seat and all seems in good order under there, so back on with the seat . . . only it won't sit properly at the front, even after ensuring the front "prongs" are correctly located under the tank support and the mid seat hokks are . . . hooked.

The front of the seat lifts nearly an inch with everything locked/located correctly, or it appears located/locked correctly at least!

Wot might I be missing with this seat fitting thing??

Over to the collective for appropriatly direct jibes and some sensible advice . . . hopefully

I had this with my new 1050.
As much as I though it was located properly under the tank, it just wasn't.
I think I had to rest the front of the seat on the tank cover, and just gave it a good wiggle.

Have the rubber blocks been removed or cut down?
When I took mine off, to try it as a lowered seat, it would rattle up & down like that.
I put them back on.   :)

Rubber blocks???

If you mean the 4 small rubber . . . rubber things, 1 sort of at each corner? Yes they were there.

My '22 650 is the same. If I don't push down on the front as I slide it forward it doesn't sit right, leaving a gap.

Have you thought about heating up the seat tabs and canting them or sleaving them for a tighter fit under the tank?  Maybe even increase the size of the front seat buffers / rubbers?

How about posting a few pix of the seat showing the pan underside, as well as a side view?  Try to capture a pix that shows the condition / shape of the hooks that go under the tank.
Hopefully someone might be able to spot a difference or suggest a possible solution after a gander at the pix.

For comparison I have atttached a pix of the seat pan underside view from a Glee.

Possibly manufactured in the last half of 2011 for the 2012 market and early delivery to secure sales on the new generation V-Strom, with it's new motor and electronic upgrades?

Gert,

Thank you for the picture. The rectangular blocks shown on your seat are missing from my neighbours seat.
What sort of height are those blocks please?

Those are the rubber blocks I was asking about in my post.
Not sure which ones you said were there, in your reply?  :)

The 4 x small round ones, two at either end of the seat.

Thanks for the info Rixington43 re the rectangular blocks - I will pass the details to my neighbour . . . or just get him to join this forum  :thumb:
