Vibrations 650 2023
« on: May 26, 2025, 14:47:47 »
Hello everyone! I have a vstrom 650 DL from 2023, and it had become soo uncomfortable to  ride due to vibrations from  handlebars, seat, footpegs. Even in 6th gear cruising along at low revs 4k at 60mph there are vibrations on handlebars , seat and bike in general, even after 15 mins on motorway the buzzing becomes very tiring on the hands etc. I had a vstrom from 2018 before at it never had vibrations really. Has this happening to anyone else and what would you recomend I should, could do?
Thank you.

Gav, have you put engine bars on?
Are the engine mounts torqued up properly?
Is the chain OK?
Just thinking out loud.
Upt.

Have you had new tyres fitted, are the wheels balanced? Are the tyres out of shape.
Still thinking.

All the above are good suggestions, to help narrow it down are the vibes rev or speed based.

Thanks for your reply sir. I would revs , even at 4k , 60mph the bike has vibrations. Between 4k and 6k in 6th gear cruising speed the sensation on the hands and bike en general is uncomfortable. 20 mins of motorway to work is enough for me.

The bike is only 18 months old, its always been buzzy with vibrations, its never been smooth like the old vstrom I had from 2018. Even when I tighten the chain, its still buzzy . I've always felt that its an feel like its an engine issue.

I would go back to basics. Take off any 'add-ons', engine guard, skid plate, baggage racks, top box plate, engine bars. etc. Check the torque settings on all visible bolts around the engine; ie undo and retorque them if that's not a big problem for you. Do foot peg mounts and handlebars too. For obvious reasons check wheel, fork and swing arm. Ride the bike as naked (not you) as possible to see if the vibes are there. If they are I don't know what to suggest other than a check at a Suzuki workshop. If it's free from vibes then okay.

After that add the parts one by one to see when vibes come back, if they do then you have the answer.

The bike is basically the same since the original wee but certain aftermarket kit upsets the zen status! Come back and let us know if you find the reason. Ta!
So how's it going so far then?

As already said, check all nuts & bolts are torqued correctly.
But also look at and check the engine mount thrust nuts/adjusters, as I think you can torque the engine mount bolts & these can remain 'loose'?

@Gav3, without a pix of your ride it is difficult to determine whether your ride is completely stock or if you have any aftermarket kit mounted, eg crashbars, skid plate, aux lights, non-stock mirrors, screen, centrestand, handlebars, etc

For example, from a previous post you where interested in the Givi Trekker 52L top box. If you did mount the top box, have you tested for vibration with the luggage removed?

Is there chance that someone could point me in the direction of the thrust adjuster tool (or part number) for my 1050 M3? Internet searches throw up results for every other Suzuki, but not mib=ne.
I get a "fine" vibration, but it's at motorway speeds, and with a 1800 mile round trip planned for late summer, it would be good to possibly iron out those vibes.
Oddly though, I like the vibration when yanking that throttle back, coupled with the enormous torque, it adds to the "experience".
Cheers
