Friends oh Cumbrian trip
« on: April 26, 2025, 09:41:29 »
My friends from the Aldi Riders set off on Thursday on their Cumbria trip.
Their first stop was Kirkby Lonsdale ( Devils bridge) they sent some pictures.
Then on to Hardknott pass more pictures. They had a premier inn booked in Cockermouth. There are 4 of them doing this trip including the chap who bought my V-Strom, and one other who was meeting them at Cockermouth last night as he had to take his elderly mum to have a CT scan at the hospital, and was riding up after that and reckoned it would take him 6-7 hours.
They set off yesterday morning for Scotland they stopped at Kelpies more pictures. Then on to Lockerbie to pay there Respects more pictures.
This is where Marcin broke down on the V-Strom it started to cough and sputter he made it to the services on the M74 20 miles south of Glasgow. He had to wait for recovery that was not picking him up until 9 last night. And it turns out that there was no room for him in the vehicle, so he has to get a taxi back to Cockermouth.
The others are off the the Lakes today and on Sunday they are going to visit Bangers & Cash Auctions. I will let you know how Marcin gets on with the V-Strom when I know more.

The Kelpies are stunning, it's only when you get right up to them that you appreciate the sheer scale of them  :thumb:

They do look impressive 2112.

I have heard from them now and they had a great days riding.
They had no phone signal for most of the day.

Marcin has had a nightmare couple of days, the V-Strom broke down at 11.30 at the services yesterday and he never got recovered until 10pm. He has spent  today at the premier inn Cockermouth, while the others went riding, his mate is picking him up tomorrow and all his gear. And his bike is on its way to Chelmsford via courier. They believe the tank has some shit in it and it has gummed up the injectors ?
Some pictures have been sent through.

Have heard about the ethanol in fuel gumming up carbs, but first time I have heard this on an injected bike.
Must admit where I don't use the bike in the colder months, I use a fuel stabiliser additive...
Hopefully the fuel pump is OK and it all just needs a good clean out  :thumb:

Hi Dave hope you are well ?  Apparently Marcin has been putting in an additive every time he filled up not sure why ?
All the years I had the V-Strom it never missed a beat.

The only thing I put in is a couple of Squirts of Red X every few tank fulls and maybe a Tank full of E5 every now and then.

2112 not sure what happened with the breakdown service ? Apparently a van picked up 5 bikes including the V-Strom and took them down south ??
