I've just fitted the Oxford unit on my tranny. It does what it says on the tin and gives you 4x options for power outlets. Note - these are 5A maximum, so if you have any larger power requirements (heated clothing, huge lights etc) an alternative may be better? For heated grips, Sat Nav, lights etc it's fine. Nice one 2112. I was wondering if the Tridents canbus system would object to me taking a tapping off a switched line.

No, it'll be fine. I did a similar thing on my tigger with no ill effects. I pinched the USB underseat supply for my fog lights (I replaced the factory fog lights as they were crap) which was already switched, if you are using a power control module you can just hook up to a switched live and the + & - at the battery and jobs a good one  :thumb:

Just a thought, do the Tridents come with a 12v socket ? If so just take a feed off the back of that as the switched live and you're sorted.

2112: The Triumph handbook is a masterpiece of obfuscation. I shall have a poke around under the seat.

Triumph Have a habit of putting USB ports under the seat, have a mooch about and see what's there. Good luck  :thumb:

I bought an Oxford for my 2005 R1200GS, but room is so tight under the seat that I wasn't able to fit it.

I now have an ugly, but safe and effective bunch of taped up wires just in front of the tank.... just like the previous owner had fitted and I had removed to make things neater.  :dl_smiley_banghead:

Being an electrical numpty, I went for the Healtech Thunderbox.

Very easy to fit directly to the battery, and works exactly as it claims too. Nothing switches on until the engine is running.

I’m running my Sat Nav, Dashcam and a power socket extension. I’ve got one more connection I can use for something else. You can get the double Thunderbox, which allows up to eight connections.👍

My mate put the Thunderbox on his GS1200 to power a Sat Nav & auxilliary lights. It only once failed to notice the bike had started after a brief stop, so pretty good. Even easier to wire than the Oxford as you don't need a switched live.

Thanks for the advice. As ever size does matter as there is hardly any room under the 660's seat. I think I'll go for the healtech so I don't have to invade the skinny wires. I cannot find the USB port that is supposed to be under the seat.

Triumph might have 'cut a corner' and left them off the 660 ?

The H/book says nothing.  A google search shows there is a connection under the seat but it looks like I have to buy the connector and output lead.

Thunderbox tucked away. The connections are also out of sight now as well.

Very tidy, that's a good bit more compact than the Oxford item  :thumb:

I have opted for the Thunderbox and the USB port. The 660 Trident has no USB port but does have an connector into which their accessory USB port can be plugged. However the Guerrilla does have a USB port on the underside of the handlebar. Good news- after another hour reading the Handbook off my phone I was able to set the time and date on the 660. It was all lost today when I installed the Optimate charge lead. Good job I installed the lead given that the battery was being drained while I faffed about with the time and date etc.

I got the USB port as well (under my seat). Then connected an Ultimate Addons USB / C / voltage reader, which I mounted on the accessory bar.

It all works a treat.👍
