2.5" (63mm) 2 into 1
« on: August 04, 2015, 19:38:04 »
Being a constant faffer and having some time on my hands I decided it was time for a 2 into 1.

After reading http://www.ktmforum.co.uk/adventure/926 ... haust.html amongst others, I set too with a hacksaw, cutting discs and a box of plasters.

1st step was to remove the back part of my last system which featured an Aprilia Tuono Factory collector which merged the front and rear cylinders. This collector was fed from the ports by a previously fabricated 50mm system.

I cut the collector just before it split into the 2 outlets, and joined them together via a 63mm 45 degree bend. This then leads into a 63mm 90 degree into the end can. Being a tight arse I opted to make my own can out of one of the original Navigator cans. The Cagiva silencer was dismantled using the hacksaw, 4.5" cutting disc, 4lb hammer and a sharp chisel. All I wanted was the inlet, the outer sleeve and the end plate. I bought a 300mm lenght of 63mm perforated stainless tube to use as the centre core and pack of acoustafil http://www.thermalvelocity.co.uk/Silenc ... p-117-425/.

After much juggling and welding it was finished.

To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Fruityness was measured at Cadwell last Friday, I jumped into the trackday queue.

Yes Paul, I did indeed buy stuff. 1 x63mm 90 degree mandrel bend, 1 x 63mm  45 degree, 1 x length 63mm perforated tube and 1 pack of acoustafil.

No more fresh food for any of us at TL towers for the foreseeable future. Dog food only, Charlie has 6 bags to share. He doesn't know he's sharing yet.
