Hi everyone
New on here and just bought a 2010 DL650 - pick it up in a couple of weeks after the family hols.

It's my first 'big bike' having passed Mod 2 in May.

If you all don't mind I'll lurk for a while - then start bombarding you all with questions about the bike.

My first one is on alarms. What's good and what's not?

Personally I believe a big f*ck off lock is better. No one responds to alarms and false alarms bring resentment.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Don't fit an alarm. You're asking for trouble.

Agreed with other comments, steer clear of alarms, more trouble than they are worth. :thumb:

Hello and  :welcome2:
Security :
like they said the only person likely to be inconvenienced by an alarm is YOU
A disc lock with a reminder lead around your twist grip is OK but better by far is big old chain and padlock through the rear wheel.

I have trackers fitted to my bikes. It doesn't stop them being stolen but it might help catch "the little shits what dun it".
P.S. never tell the Insurance folk what you do to protect it as they will make it a mandatory part of your policy.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

:welcome: I agree with most members, a dirty great big chain with a good grade security padlock. Enjoy your hols and then enjoy the big bike. :lala:
