Kielder Forrest Drive & Scottish Borders Blast
« on: May 17, 2023, 21:21:26 »
Over the coronation weekend I took a few extra days off and headed up to the Scottish borders for my first trip of the year. On the Friday I left drizzly Devon and headed up to Dalbeatie in Scotland where I had booked 3 nights at a Islecroft campsite, which was great. On the Saturday I rode the Stranraer loop which was from Ride's Bikers' Britain. I linked to it with The Queens Way and had a detour to Portpatrick for lunch. What a great route. Fantastic dry empty roads for most of the time. On Sunday I headed East to Kielder Forrest to ride the 12mile long gravel drive. After that I Headed to Hawick with a detour and then to Moftat, stopping at the Grey Mare's Tail Waterfall before continuing to Carronbridge via Elvanfoot. Another fantastic days riding on dry empty roads again! Both days I dodged the showers. The riding was as good as anything I have experienced and the Borders more than lived up to my expectations. The first video is of the Kielder Forrest Drive and the second one from just after all the way to Carronbridge.

Schhhhhhh fella, Schhhhhhh.
Don't tell em about the borders.
The Highlands is so much better, nothing to see here, just keep going North you muppets. That's better.
Glad you enjoyed some of Northumberland Mep. If you're coming back the kettles on.
The picture left is between Selkirk and Moffat, you see, rubbish.
Upt.

On the tail end of this tour I rode through the Pennines and filmed this stretch of roads.

OI! Keep the B6277 and surrounding areas secret! It's great up there, no traffic, fantastic roads. Don't tell everyone. TLPower, Ridaz, myself and Endintears can be found up there a few times during a good year.

Move on, move on.

Nothing to see here.

To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

You could've at least photoshopped some traffic in, we don't want all the goons coming up here and clogging up the place.
Glad you enjoyed it remember, when anyone asks it's an post industrial ruin up here. Slag heaps and flat caps everywhere, constant rain, don't bother, just stay on the A1 to the NC500, etc, etc
