Lomo Soft Adventure Panniers Luggage
« on: February 28, 2024, 17:40:23 »
Been working on a mounting system for some Lomo adventure panniers, the large versions as they come in various sizes. I wanted to utilise the Givi pannier rails I already had but mount the bags securely rather than just strapping it up.

So I got laser cut some 2.5mm thick 304 stainless plates that I designed to match the molle webbing exactly, so the plates become hard backing for the bags. The base of the plates is slotted to use the Givi pins, then instead of the Monokey latch (which I had to remove) I simply bolt to secure. I’m making two 5mm thick tapped plates to replace all the washes and fix the bolts, so in future to remove it’s just a 12mm spanner.

It’s not quick release but two M6 nuts each side and they all come off. If I want my Givi panniers back on, I just bolt the latch back on, a 2 minute job.

So far pretty happy! I sat them high for ground clearance but they do sit below the seat height, so a tent or something could still be strapped across the seat to both panniers.

Added some extra webbing so no chance of the bag moving against its backing plate. All done now, waiting for warmer weather to go out and try them fully loaded  :thumb:
