BATTLE WING BW-501/BW-502?
« on: September 20, 2021, 11:09:06 »
These are currently fitted to the bike when I bought it. The price reflected that it would need them replacing at some stage.

That stage is now. The bike has 9200 on the odometer. To say the ride especially when leaning over on roundabouts is very skittery would be an understatement.

Could these be the OEM fitment?  I ask as the Bridgestone website says they don't make a fitment for my 1000 Strom!  https://www.bridgestone.co.uk/motorcycle-tyres/battle-wing/bw-501/search-by-vehicle/

Anyway going to have them replaced with a tried and trusted set of Michelin Road 5 Trails tomorrow.

Yes they're the oe tyres. You've done well at 9k miles, your replacements will not last as long though grip is better.

It's the same tyre sizes fitted to the 650, 1000 and 1050: those were the tyres fitted to my Glee new so chances are they're the originals. Can't believe someone would voluntarily fit them anyway.

That probably meant to read: 'BW-502's shouldn't be fitted to your bike as they're shite'

Yep. Their shiyt!

A40's if you get them cheap, A41 are newer tread pattern but the same compound as the A40's

Bt023 if you ride only road.

There are other brands, but bridgstone seem to be long lived, good grip and value atm where Michelin Metzler, conti ect are expensive and don't last very long.

I never had a problem with the oe Bridgestone tyres, enough grip to drag the footrests and main stand so OK for me. I changed to A40's but never liked them, to stiff a sidewall then moved to the  Michelin pilot road range, 3's then 4's which I loved. I'm now on the road 5's but I won't use them again as the mileage is to poor. I could get 5k miles out of a road 3 or 4 but only 4k from a road 5, trail or standard. My search for the perfect tyre goes on and on!

I went for the Pilot 5 Road Trails.  Not too worried about the mileage but handling is important.  See how they go.

I have used Tourance and Tourance Next on my previous 1150GS and Explorer 1200 but opted for the Michelin this time.

Had one set of Bridgestone BT020/21 on the GS and they did over 9500 before they were verging on the illegal.
