The Blue Oyster bar / Re: Insurance renewal time again!
« Last post by Phild on May 01, 2024, 18:03:29 »Woe is me……
Picking up a replacement bike for my written off one next week..….. non fault….. my insurance has more than doubled. I’m now well over £500, and some are saying they can’t quote.
Beer from the fridge time. 🙁

V-Strom specific discussion / Re: What have you done with your V-Strom today?
« Last post by Froglodyte on May 01, 2024, 17:15:26 »Nice shiny new rear tyre fitted by my mobile tyre fitter. He comes to my house and fits a Battlax BT023 to my loose wheel for the princely sum of £130. I call that a bargain. All I have to do now is stop it looking quite so shiny.

For Sale (Bike related) / Re: 2007 DL1000 for sale
« Last post by mr_diver on May 01, 2024, 16:21:25 »Having ridden all versions of the DL1000, I have to say the best one is the "classic", less refined but more characterful engine, the brakes did the job with plenty of feel, the suspension did a good job as an all-rounder, but the engine is a far closer relation to the fire breathing dragon that was the TL1000 engine.
All the later refinements, improve the appeal to the wider market that want blandness and stats, personally I want it angry and mean
The early DL1000 was aimed firmly at the Varadero/XRV/R1100GS market and it did a very good job with being a better balanced all-rounder than competition. The Varadero feels more top heavy at slow speed, but slightly more planted when cruising, but the early V-Strom 1000 has a sportier edge to it and about 10kg lighter and was still a very capable touring machine.
I've been sniffing around this and your Trophy, the problem is the Mrs tells me I don't have time to ride the one bike, let alone a second, (or third if you count her bike)
Anyone who buys one of your bikes is going to get a well sorted and cared for bike. - good luck with the sale.
