Auto oiler oil

Hi Chaps,
I have a scotoiler auto oiler fitted to the old wee  I have bought.
Question is what oil do people use?
Is there any other folks out there that think the Scot oil is expensive or am I being a tight.

When I used an auto oiler, I used Chainsaw oil

I had thought of that. Wasn't sure if it was a little tacky....

I use EP 90 gear oil in mine works really well

Just go to Tesco and buy the cheapest 15-50w or similar oil you can get.My latest chain and sprocket set is now been on just over 24k.miles and is still looking good.I turned the front sprocket round at about 14k.miles to equalize the wear.Looked at it a few weeks ago and it will go for some time yet.The”special” oils you buy have just a little tack additive and a bit of colouring added extra, and that's it.Gear oil is fine but it stinks the garage out.

Yeah I've got an old bottle of hypoid gear oil, I think about using it and open the bottle, promptly put the cap back and bottle back on the shelf. It stinks.

Chainsaw oil is my go to, but I have 1ltr of 20w50 I bought incase the Enfield needed a top up. Never opened and the Enfield went 5 years ago.

Personally I stick with the scottoiler oil.  But that's a preference thing based on how easy it is to wash off the oil that has flung onto the wheel etc.

When using the PD Mini oiler, I found that using a lighter oil allowed the "fling" to take with it most of the crud and grit that otherwise can stick when a heavy oil is used.  However,  when applying with a brush I use gear oil.

Speaking of PD Oilers, is it just me or can't you buy their oil separately now? I can't see anywhere on their site, and pt lube site doesn't seem to exist any more.
