My insurance specifies 'brick built garage ' at the quote stage, I suspect most do. Worth asking though.

Yeah, I think mine says concrete garage.

Thing is, I don't see how one of these steel sheds is less secure than my old prefab garage.

I haven't got a clue what the insurance would think about it. You're better asking them.
If you are tempted to go metal be aware there can be a lot of condensation in the winter months, I.e. 11 months of the year.
It's not insurmountable but it can mean extra work to make it suitable bike storage.

I had similar for many years. It was galvanised heavy steel and had an up and over door. I told the insurance company about it, I can't remember if it lowered my insurance or not but I slept well as I put an alarm on it too.  :thumb:
