Oh, Border Farce!  lol

You forget how much better it is now in the UK now you've taken back control.

Supermarket shelves full of sovereignty (nobody to prepare it, pack it, deliver it, take away the rubbish).

Climate change is the least of your problems I suggest.
So how's it going so far then?

Yes all this COP26 crap is two faced hypocrisy. Especially from the Capitalist corrupt Tory scum bags and their big corporation fat cat buddies. It will take the average person to vote people in that will help the planet. It is certainly not the corrupt tory's and their right wing chums that will help.

The point is Mr Nick you can always rewrite the rules if you are in the driving (no pun intended) seat as was attempted over lobbying recently. (Two years of it actually)

If you write this then you've broken your own rules: "What the .gov should do, is make the unwashed, Labour voting weirdos from Insulate Britain, fair game and allow friendly motorists to beat the crap out of them. It will do wonders for the climate, removing traffic queues. It will also boost morale in the UK "

Hmmmm.....really?

Will you defend your stand point Fat Rat or press that 'thead locked' button, like Boris?
So how's it going so far then?

My original post here was to highlight the DOT's intention to apply retrospective regulations that will require certain items of original eqipment to be installed. This could, for example, mean refitting a catalytic  converter and the OE silencer. The drive ( no pun intended) for this comes from the men and women in grey suits that lurk in the DOT and come up with "bright ideas". They may also be influenced by their cousins in the EU who would prefer everyone to drive the exact same car, van, truck etc. and for motorcycles to eradicated due to their complete lack of uniformity. In order to get these regulations on the books they hang the slogans, "for the environment" and " for safety"  on their covers on the grounds that then, no one could ever argue with them. However, none of this is party political. Surley we know, those who inhabit governments as secretary of state, or cabinet minister, have no ideas of their own and are to some extent pawns of the aforementioned men and women in grey.  Just my opinion of course, but those catalytic converters don't actually reduce CO2 do they?
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Do we (us) know if this is a copy/paste of EU law which the UK has implemented?

Worth noting this isn't new to Europe or the UK. Euro 4, Euro 5 etc. emmissions regulations were helped into being by the UK whilst they were members (as with more than 95% of 'pesky EU Laws' members had to follow).

In France the police seek out 'adapted' or customised two wheelers covering particularly baffles, silencers and restrictors. This is done only by obvious infrigements like noise and speed of otherwise conforming vehicles or targeted checks. It's made difficult to pursue as there are not MOT's for bikes yet and that may not even come about in 2023, Macron has put the intention on hold.........
So how's it going so far then?

Catalytic converters reduce air pollution, which may prevent premature deaths and disease. Whilst they may increase CO2 output which contributes to climate change, they are seen as less damaging to the environment than not using them.

Think of catalytic converters in the same way as removing lead from petrol, and banning internal combustion engines as a way to reduce CO2.
(Everyone thinks it'll be electric cars and motorbikes replacing ICE, which in itself needs clean electricity, but there'll be a big push against electric cars in favour of cycling, walking and public transport)

I suppose even changing tyres from OE spec could  be problematic.

I have tried a couple of electric bikes.  They are okay to be honest.  Just the range issue worries me.

Like most new rules and regulations they need enforcing. With virtually no police on the streets and plenty of friendly MOT testers around any new laws, like existing laws, are easily side-stepped. We all know where to take a bike with a naughty exhaust fitted to get an MOT surely ? I know of a place in Northumberland where it is possible to get a broken pram MOT'd with the exchange of a bottle of premium Vodka...
