Anti-Clag Device.
« on: April 09, 2021, 12:21:35 »
TLPower Industries has been busy in the R&D department this week. As a consequence of painting the wheels a more pleasing colour than black our test pilot noticed that the rims looked "claggy" quite quickly.

A solution was to develop the Anti-Clag Device, it's primary function is to reduce the amount of clag distributed around the rear wheel area. The secondary function of course is to provide a source of income from global sales and patent infringements.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Good work. But Viz may have the patent on this.

Superb work TLP. As a long time advovate of fully enclosed drive chains I feel this a step in the right direction.

How much backplate is there 'twixt sprocket & wheel? And, apart from the expander in the rear spindle, where else is it anchored?

There is a 25mm gap on the inner face between the carrier nuts and the device and a 15mm gap to the chain. I bonded some thin sheet rubber to the mounting faces before installation to ensure a level of grip rather than rely on alloy to alloy. The arm also fits into the casting "U" shape, this part also has a rubber bonded backing.

The fasteners are stainless and are torqued to 18lbft, it appears to be solid. If there is any movement I have some M6 stainless rod so I could run a fastener all the way through the hollow axle. Another alternative is to add more weight and use a set of rear axle mushrooms. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KTM-1190-ADVENTURE-CRASH-MUSHROOMS-REAR-AXLE-SLIDER-BUNG-BOBBINS-PROTECTOR-S9ZM-/332860816798

Very neat job  :thumb:

I sometimes think of taking an old front disc cover from a KMX etc. and adapting it in a similar way for the back wheel.
May your God go with you...
