Bought it.  How do you get maps on sd card?
Using Samsung galaxy S4
When you download it should ask you where you want them stored, I guess.

I downloaded navigator for my galaxy and it asked me where I wanted the maps stored (had the option of phone or card). I tested it this morning and it works great.

(typed out a reply and net went down and lost it!)

It appears co-pilot doesn't ask for location
and hasn't got a setting for it

The problem seems to be that some phones (including Samsung) refer to an SD card as "extSdCard" and refer to half of internal memory as "sdcard0"
So an app doesn't know which is the proper SD card.

However other apps (e.g. BeyondPod) have worked round this by getting the user to move a config file to the proper SD card and then the app searches for that file and uses that location for all files.

There is some posts about this on the net, and I am having a look and will have a go at implementing it.
If this works I will post the fix here

Hmm, never thought about that, sorry...

I've manually moved all my music onto the SD card, so I've still got half the phone memory free and I didn't even think about it when installing Co-Pilot... :shy:

The Europe version now has 10% off until the 4th August, making it, for some reason £29.99 from £34.99. Because that is actually 14%ish

I use the TomTom XXL whenever I go on trips (both in the car and on the bike). I swear by it, BUT it's not infallible. I always fume when I read of people following every thing their GPS tells them to do (even if it is going off the end of a pier). Just cause you have a (very handy) GPS doesn't mean you get to defer responsibility for the journey.

Also, the TomTom is all about trying to squeeze as much cash out of you for using their product. Unlike the Garmin, the TomTom doesn't give you free map upgrades and you have to pay for everything else if you want extras.

I would certainly consider the Garmin having seen some of the reports on this forum.

I recently changed to a Garmin 660 LM from my Tom Tom Rider 1.

I do like the Garmin but as I see it you cannot set Waypoints on the Sat Nav directly.
I have pulled out what little hair I have trying to program a route on my PC and consequently Waypoints which I can then download to my Garmin this has taken me 3 days on and off to find out how to do this.

The reason for this is there is nothing in the Garmin instructions and their video's are rubbish.
In the end  I found a video on Youtube which helped me to sort it be it was demonstrated on a different model to mine.

 :)
Do it today as there may not be a tomorrow.

Live in Rothley, Leicestershire.

Any more advice regarding copilot, I'm thinking of getting HD full Europe edition, HD as its the same price as the standard Europe version (£29.99) and it's optimised for the retina display. It's only £4 more than the Western Europe version so might aswell have Poland, Croatia etc. for the added price of a pint.

I'll be buying tomorrow if all is still well with you folk who are using it.

had it on Galaxy S4 for a few days now
Seems pretty good
Haven't tried moving maps to SD card yet (not that that will bother you )
But you do need some storage space for maps 2+ GB for all of Europe

It has hung a few times - more hanging on start up
no idea why?

OK, thanks. I'm expecting the size, apparently it needs double that to unpack too, so you need 4gb free or it won't install, once install is done though it only takes up around 2gb as you say.

The free version with the 14 day trial has crashed a couple of times, the app just seems to reset and it takes you back to the home screen, I just relaunched it. However, it only did this while I was messing around with it, it hasn't happened while navigating.

I think it's a bargain if it serves me for a few years, I was looking at getting a TomTom Europe unit for around £100 but this looks like it's got a lot more functionality and customisation at a third of the cost.

Actually, I must admit, mine has sort of crashed a couple of times (the display vanished but it was still navigating as I could hear the voice instructions). However, that was after stopping at the services, switching to other apps (like the browser) while having a coffee and then trying to return back to Co-Pilot. I had to switch my phone (Galaxy S3) on and off to get it working again. Not every time but it has happened...

If you have a smartphone (who doesn't these days?), it's a definite no-brainer to have it on your phone - I've used it in walking mode round London a few times, for example.

Like my Zumo 660, and the old Mapsource is way better for route planning than Basecamp....which isn't intuitive.

I just bought a Nuvi 2445 for my trip to France, was cheap enough to get as a dedicated unit and it performed well except it was a bit quiet if I had the AC blower on full and the wife and mother-in-law having a chatter session. Since I mounted it out of line of sight a few inches above the rear view mirror I did miss some turns, my fault, not the units (the C4GP windscreen is huge and it got too much sun on the screen mounted lower down). 3500 miles and no issues.
