My Mum (Mrs Thomas)  rode a Honda moped Reg plate
MAD 1T

I was not happy when she sold the moped as I would have bought it just for the plate.

I don't otherwise recall personalised plates for bikes. Are they allowed?
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

OK, so I'm toying with the idea of purchasing a private registration

If your initials are AH then I have one for sale  :)

Well, I decided to splash out and buy a plate. ML** BRY; ML as it's going on an ML, two digits and BRY as that's me name, like. Not a lot of dosh to be honest at £435 all in. It will also have the bonus of making my new car look old... (and it's £435 the wife can't spend on more handbags).

I'm such a tart really  :shy:

£435!!
Now I understand. Mine was $75.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Well the one I wanted is still available but not used. I suppose the fellow registered it so he cold sell it to someone like me. No chance.

looked at another a couple of days ago and it will cost me £492 all in + £235 as it is to be re-registered from Northern Ireland  ###

Told him to go eff himself  :violence-uzi:

Funny thing is the first one was available from DVLA just a few months ago. I think once you do a search, it is logged into a database and the bloody site owner immediately registers it as someone has shown an interest.

I'd rather keep the current registration as it was private to the person I bought the car from so it will be of interest to someone at some stage

I refuse to pay for anything over £500 as it is just showing off really.

The "clever" ones or those that attempt to spell someone's name are always lost on me and I have to ask my wife what they actually say. Spending hundreds of pounds on one is clearly good value for money then....

I would say you have more money than sense... but then, there's a thread around here somewhere where I spent hundreds of £s on essentially a coat hanger... so, Hello, when you have money, who needs sense right? :)

Give the bloke a break....
Who are we to debate spending hundreds of pounds on what others think is rubbish?
How many on here spend a fortune on a bike specific Sat Nav when a car one works perfectly well with the correct fixings and can be used in the car too :) ? You could have saved yourselves less than he's spent on his plate

I looked at D10 FAN many times over what must have been a couple of years but couldn't ever justify the £500 to buy it.

I was surprised it was still available for a long time after he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2009

No surprise it had gone within a couple of hours of his demise.

RIP RJD

Linky for the youngsters who might not know who he was.

I saw him a few times with Black Sabbath and then with his own band Dio, cracking singer with great stage presence.

It's just a money making scheme around here. It doesn't cost near that much to get it 'processed'. There are people who speculate with private plates here, like you would with domain names
