New boots?

While in the sportsbikeshop buying the new jacket & trousers I also had a look at some boots. I tried a few pairs on but I liked these,

they obviously feel a little stiff being new but I found a problem walking in them. The heel was, or felt, 'funny', & walking felt clumpy. My last two pairs didn't have a heel to talk of & just wondering if anyone has these & felt the same but improved over time?

I have had a pair od SIDI boots since 2012. When new the soles felt reluctant to bend but have gradually worn in. I like the thick cleated soles and I like a raised heel as it is les likely to slip off the peg in difficult situations. They are Goretex lined and still waterproof. Proper bootswith proper soles and not those lightweight dancing things that sportsbike riders prefer. They cost £169 when new so about £16 per year so far. I'd buy another pair if it was not for my age... I'd have be riding at 88 to get the same value. Goddammit I've gone and caught the tightfistedmeangene from the wife. Oh!hell.

Your references to albums isn't lost on me Mick, I appreciate the effort.

I have the taller pair, once bedded in they have been great. After "bedding in" the customary "Sidi creak" can be heard. Furniture polish or silicon spray sorts the lack of silence.

I don't know about Jonathans knees Rusty, but after walking around Frampton Marsh for two days my poor old arthritic knee is doing more than creaking!

I had walking squeaks for a few years, although fortunately, the boots were OK after a few months.

The heels on those boots are like the ones I wear down the club on Thursdays, the ones for the bike are much shorter but heavy & square, causing just as much difficulty in walking though.

Had an original pair of Sidi Adventures about six years ago and quite liked them but after three years they leaked, eventually Goretex agreed to supply a replacement pair under their "lifetime guarantee".
However, just over three years later the replacements are getting a bit damp in rain despite them having less use due to Covid.
The boots have been used 95% on road for less than 10k miles a year and not abused.

I got an old pair of Alpinestars Tech 3 boots I’m going to try. Dirt bike boots are basically the same thing might have something else that might be up your alley.

I have a pair Forma Adventure boots- they are so comfy, fairly soft sole and for a big boot, quite easy to wonder around in.

I don't use them very often these days as I tend to ride with a pair of Haix XR22 boots (steel toe Gortex safety boots) which are more like my walking boots.

The only time my feet have ever been wet is when I've gone through flood water and it's gone over the top.

My commuting boots are the RST ADV W2 - they're OK if you get them cheap, under £100, I paid £75 in the NEC in 2019, but the outer layer has started to crack, though they are still waterproof but I don't use them much these days.

I still wear my Forma boots that I bought for my RTW trip. Still comfy and able to walk about in, but looking a little battered now.

I used mine for trail riding, they've got a few scrapes and took a lot of cleaning to the the dried mud out of the grain.

+1for forma adventure, I have widefeet and they are so comfy  totally  waterproof  in last 18 months

Don't forget to open some of the clips when you get off the bike to walk. You may find them much more comfortable.
