HELP

 hi all,
not been on the bike for 2ys plus, so today wass the big try out day.
all went well no brake probs etc, all went well untill I turned it off, had real hard job to turn the key back on, with some oil I got it to turn on and got home.
only oil we had was some engine oil.
back at home its stoped turning again, any one out there want to strip it down and do the filing bit for me. please please please.
am willing to post or travel and of course there's a drink in it for you.
I am an old fart now, and my hand shake like a bitch on any small job, plus eye sight is shite.

Before you take it off, I would guess the lock is just gummed up & the oil ain't going to help. It needs cleaning and lubricating properly.
Spray the lock with plenty of contact cleaner to get rid of the oil. Then let it dry (an air line or compressed air can does a quick job) then put some graphite powder in it. You can also use dry graphite spray.

  Seconded.
The lock barrel on mine was a pig when I bought it.
Emptied most of a can of disc brake cleaner through it and then used both dry lube for a bicycle chain which dries to leave a light wax residue and then graphite powder as well. Works a treat now, even got the parking lights back working.

Clean it out with lots of penetrating fluid to wash out the old oil.  Then, after that drains out, put a spray of graphite filling in it!

Dry graphite in powder or spray form not an oil based lubricant.

Don't put too much powder in at one go! A little by little policy and work the key in & out a bit is the way to go. I tend to put a bit on each side of the key and then insert it. You think it all falls off but enough stays on to do what is required.

I had to bite the big one and remove the lock, I took off the top yolk. sorry.
one thing, the grf/powder does it not turn to gunk in the rain? or does it just wash out.

Used the graphite powder for years & never had a problem with it,
If you're concerned you can get a dry spray.

If it dries after you apply it then it should be OK. The thing you don't need in a lock is an oily substance remaining wet in there to attract dust & other crap to stick & cause further problems.
