The first picture was taken adjacent to Lake Geneve, Pic 2 is in the French Alps near the start of the climb up the Col de Iseran, the 3rd is at the top after the K1200s had blown it's head gasket ! The 4th is where we abandoned the K1200s on the way down the Col. The 5th is Your man ootside the Guzzi factory at Mandelo del Lario near Lake Como. The 6th is up the Stelvio Pass and the 7th is at the bottom of the Stelvio. Billy Buck (they call him Billy Buck because he doesn't give a f...) is in the background on his 1200GS. My mate Davy is still in back Valbonne at this point, waiting for his BMW K1200s to be repaired...

Hi, you say former Stelvio ...... I've been considering one myself... If you don't mind me asking, why did you part company with it?

Oooh... I went to some of those places! God damn, when will it be summer again???  ###

Loved the Guzzi factory and love Guzzis generally... so many of them around Lake Como. Great pictures!

Cheers, I love Lake Como. We stayed there in 2007 at a private estate looking across to Bellagio in the hills above Varenna, stunning.

I had the Stelvio for three years, the joint longest I've had a bike (the other was an XJR1200 Yam'). I've not got the best back in the world due to my previous career in the electricity industry as an overhead linesman. I was simply finding the Guzzi, at 270kg's, too heavy to move around. It's OK when you're moving but when you have to heave it in and out of parking spaces and the like it was a bit of a pig. All day comfortable (577 miles was my best), excellent brakes and surprisingly good handling, just heavy. The little Suzuki glee was an obvious, much more manageable choice.

Really liked the Stelvio, like the engine layout and quirky design...

then I sat on one at the recent NEC show and it just didn't feel right to me.  :bawl:
Neither did the FJR but the Pan Euro was just like putting on a new pair of super comfy undercrackers.

The newer model Stelvio has a redesigned seat to the model I had. The newer version is much narrower at the front to make it easier to get Your feet down when you stop. Thankfully the two are interchangeable.

Nice, one of my work colleagues has a 1200 sport and they handle superbly. You'll have some fun with that when the weather picks up  :thumb:
