It's only when I look around other forums that I appreciate just how plain, simple and easy to use this forum is.  :thumb:

There are other forums?

It's probably simple because of the bloke who set it up  lol

the Varadero UK and international forums are the same simple machines platform ,but the setup is a little more busy and confused.

and the bloody 125cc riders keep posting in the tech pages for the 1000!

Some other forums you
wait a few weeks to be accepted
wait a few more weeks to prove you read some posts and then you can post
They
Use dark background so the text is hard to read
Use very small text and the text is hard to see
Some want cash donations to let you in and some want cash to let you "access all areas".
However, if a person wants information about their bike that the manufacturer won't or can't share then a forum is a reasonable start.
Best single type bike forum after this is the VTR forum who were very informative helpful and devoid of BS

The FJ/FJR forum is good, been going for quite a few years now. Only downside to it recently is its been pretty quiet for a while.
Thisuns very good, pleased it seems to be holding its membership, think FB groups have had an effect on some forums.

Most of the contributors on here are too old for facebook. Saying that according to our youngest (30) she tells us facebook has been ruined by old people.

Yes Michael of Barnes I am looking at you.

faeces-book is loaded with adverts for junk, rubbish and magic cures for every remedy.
Here's an example.

If you say something stupid on here, the sarcasm and witty reply will  be swift...

On facebook you'll be applauded for your originality as any other form of reply will induce a ban for saying anything that someone who's had a sense of humor removal and now possesses a pronoun could possibly take offense to.  :dl_soapbox:

Most peopleThere is a few, on the facebook V-strom uk page that post things for likes, with very little actual content of any real value. Though some of the posts that are meant to be serious, by people who consider themselves serious do make me nearly piss myself laughing at them  lol

I gave up on the Triumph RAT forum, quite simply full of tossers with little knowledge but a lot of opinions...

Been on ukgser for many years since I owned my first 1100GS. There are some others on here that are also members which doesn’t surprise me as quite a few GS owners have downsized to DL650s or changed to DL1000s. I pay £12 to get full access as the classifieds section is always busy with both biking and non-biking stuff. Got many bargains over the years. There is also a great deal of info on touring, mechanical expertise etc etc.

Advice required... What type of fire extinguisher is best to use on the final drive?

What prayer is best when the brake servo fails?

:auto-dirtbike: sorry it had to be done.

I'm on quite a few forums (fora?) with my various hobbies, interests etc. and find the biggest difference is getting used to the software each one uses and as I'm a prolific photographer, the methods of dealing with images from direct uploading to posts, through forum hosted to having to link to an external image hosting service, Photobucket ruined a lot of threads when they started charging a few years ago.
The admin/moderators also play a big part in how successful a forum is, worst type I've seen is where admin are always right and if you dare to argue you get banned! and the cliquey type where new members are flamed so leave.
I moderate on a forum that started out as a single subject, but now has nearly 35k members that post about such a wide range of interests that a google search on a lot of technical subjects will give a hit to the forum.
