If any of you fine folk are passing through Northumberland or are fit (mad) enough to do the C2C cycle ride avoid the Allenheads Inn at all costs. Dirty, damp and delapitated and that's just the staff ! I had the misfirtune of having to spend a night there last weekend while supporting a C2C effort from work (of course I'm not daft enough to pedal). There was an unhealthy amount of wildlife in our room and the ensuite appeared to have been vandalised three years earlier. I don't care how many floral fragranced plug-ins you have you simply can't hide damp. To make things worse the food was pure slop, every surface you touched was sticky (with what ? yuk...) and the beer merely average... Give this one a wide berth folks.
