First Ride

Thinking about my early bikes brought to mind the time I collected my first bike.  I'd ridden (illegally) mates sports mopeds, this is the late '70's don't forget, and then found my Suzuki B120, miles away.  But Hello, it was cheap!

On a summer Saturday morning I got a lift on my brothers Panther 650 sidecar outfit from the Cotswolds to Tamworth (come to think of it, that was my first long ride on any bike), picked up the Suzuki, rode to The Three Spires Rally near Coventry somewhere, hung around until late afternoon, then followed the Panther back home.

My ears were ringing with the thump from the Panther's exhaust note for days afterwards. As the Suzuki could reach the dizzy heights of 60mph, it was faster than the Panther, brilliant!  Didn't go down too well with my brother though'.

First long pillion ride, first solo ride (no training in those days) and first rally.  Not bad.  Didn't rain either.
