New Strom Owner
« on: November 13, 2023, 15:50:03 »
Good afternoon all,

I have been riding to work for a little over a year now on a CBT, got my full licence in July and bought a much-loved 2008 DL650 with just over 50k miles on it just over 2 weeks ago, on the 29th of October.

So far I've had the normal electrical issues with it (dodgy dash/headlight wire, dodgy headlights wire under the airbox), but I bypassed both of those with connector blocks and spare wire, and have had zero issues since.

Just wanted to share my enjoyment of the bike with you all, as it is a really smooth ride, so much more comfortable than my hunched sporty 125, and with oodles of power to nip up to speed.

I have noticed that it is a little taller than is suitable for me, as I have to walk it back on tiptoes (I am just shy of 5'10", 177cm, for reference). However, having looked at the adjustments that one needs to make when lowering so as to prevent dangerous riding issues/part wear, I may just leave it at stock height and get used to it.

Anyway, happy riding all!

 :welcani: YBJ, from Northumberland.
Regarding the seat height. I think someone posted you can remove the underseat blocks and gain an inch. Don't know if it was your model year. Worth a look.
An extra inch is always useful.
Ooooh errrrr misses.

:welcani: ... there is a wealth of information on the site regarding suspension lowering kits and other ways of lowering seat height, some will be to your taste or fit your pocket... others won't. Enjoy

This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

:welcani: John. A good cobbler should be able to ad an inch or two to the sole of your boots... maybe   :thumb:
