Hello, from Saddleworth.
« on: January 16, 2019, 12:01:59 »
Hello all, I bought my Glee back in July last year after a 7 year break from biking (old bike was a 1999 SV650). I found a lovely 66 plate with ABS & a few extras fitted by the previous owner (panniers, bash plate, crash bars, mirror extenders). Before getting the Strom I bought a Bandit & rode that for a couple of months but just couldn't get on with it. Anyway I tested a Triumph Tiger 800, a Kawasaki Versys 650, a Yamaha Tracer 700 & a brand new V-Strom 650.
I thought the Tiger was an great bike but too expensive, the Versys was a bit vibey, the Tracer too harsh & the Strom was just perfect.
It took a bit of getting used to the extra height & weight but I'm loving it.
I'm on the look out for a chain oiler at the moment & I am trying to decide between a Scottoiler or a Tutoro.
That's all for now.

Hi Martin, thanks for that (you can tell I'm new), I've edited my post accordingly.
Is there a particular reason it's Glee?

hello YoungerPanda, and  :welcome:  basically we had to have some way of differentiating between models. Pre-2012 DL650's started getting called 'wees', because they were smaller capacity engines compared to DL1000's. Then 2012 , new DL650 with a Gladius engine was launched, and somehow became the 'Glee'!
Oddly enough, I don't think a nickname has been sorted for the 2017 dl's...though I bet fatrat could think of some !
