Just a quick introduction :), I'm 30, been riding now for only 2 years. Late starter. Ride to clear my head and enjoy the control and speed.
Had my Vee 650 2010 now only 2 weeks, moving up after 2 years on my baby varadero 125. (which I still miss dearly)
Loving my new Vee though. Already setting out to personalise her. As I'm 202cm... think that's 6'6 shes the right height, although desperately looking for a high/touring seat. Lower pegs have also been brought.
I think I picked the right bike for my first non 125. and shes taken care of me so far.
Already browsed randomly and learnt plenty from this group! Wise enough to know one can never stop learning.
Hopefully chat to you all soon.

Can someone advise,

Hi ACE and :welcome:
A 2010 DL650 is a Wee.

Ace,
See THESE PHOTOS (http://www.v-strom.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=19570&p180149#p180149) for the difference between a 650 Seat and Touring Seat. Only the photo up against the brick wall is clear in terms of how much higher it is.

Another giant :) Wait ages for one... etc etc

Wow, that's the quickest and warmest welcome ever!
thank you blokes!
I have a WeeeeEEE!
That still sounds wierd.
And thank you for the photos martin, I confirmed I have a stock 650 seat with that photo.
Still feels like I sit in the bike!
can't wait to find that touring seat! I will be ruthless!
Lower pegs and higher seat and maybe bar risers and my bike will be perfect! :)

Hi ACE, welcome to the forum! :)
Changing the seat made a big difference to my bike, but went for a custom job to add 50mm to mine. Comfy as hell and the single best mod I've made. I have also fitted the peg lowering brackets. These are good but place your toes closer to the floor in corners, so you have to allow for that. I've scuffed mine plenty of times in tight bends! I've bought some longer dog bones to raise the bike 25mm but have yet to fit them but the hope is to get back some toe space!
Enjoy your new bike and ride safe! :thumb:

Oh I have seen these dog bones to add 25mm
Never could tell what the affect would be. Was thinking it wouldn't raise the distance between pegs and seat so no point. But I used to drag my toes a lot on my varadero. So I see your point. I'll grab some now too :obscene-drinkingchug:
