Mid life greetings from Stockport
« on: October 18, 2008, 20:11:25 »
Hi to all

great to find UK forum. Just got K2 DL1000 in blue after 25 years out of the saddle and biking in general (yeah, so its my midlife gift to yours truly). If nowt else the wife likes the colour and despite my bulk she still has room. Son loves it as much as me but 16yr old daughter thinks it's all got seriously uncool. Thought I might be taking too much on as a "new" rider but have to say impressed so far. Previous owner left a givi rack on board and wondered what others would recommend for size of top box? needs to hold 2 lids. Thinking of adding Autocom 200 this week and want to replace bar ends and handguards as they're the only things with signs of use. If anyone wants to offer advice on setting out with a Strom I'm all ears. Cheers

I have no experience of Autocom, I use a bluetooth system which works fine for me - NO WIRES!

Welcome from the sunny South  :)))

Andy, It's possible that people down here have so much money they buy the GS instead... :-|

Or there are loads of Strommers who are too busy riding to join forums? :?

Welcome.

I use a Starcom Advance system for my intercom requirements. Excellent bit of kit.

As for helmets a 45 or 48 litre box generally works but best to try before you buy as some lids have stricky out vents etc and have probs squeezin' in.

cheers for that. Good to see somebody from Huddersfield in the forum - did my training at the Infirmary in the 80's and lived in Lindley & Crosland Moor. Even sad enough to pick up my first big bike (this one) at DC motorcycles at Fartown.

I saw the bike in DC's but I wanted a K4 on for screen choice. If you're ever over this way let me know, you can see the Starcom system. Got mine from Earnshaws as they gave me a fair deal.

Hi and welcome.  I too came back after along break, 20 years, and I have a blue K2 1000.  You'll soon find out that the blue ones are the quickest.

My wife loves the bike, although I am fairly large she is small and has lots of room. My son thought that the top box was not very cool until I took him out on the bike without the top box.  He now thinks it's useful for keeping him sliding off when I accelerate.

Have lots of fun on your new ride.

thanks Chris ( & Mark again)

top box ordered today to keep either the wife or son steady and comfy on the back. Decided to go for autocom duo in the end but nowt between that and starcom, just happened to be on same site I got box from. Now just praying for longer dry spells so that I've got company on the back seat.
