have struggled to get a pair of boots that fit my big feet so took SHMBO away for her birthday (to Richmond)  :shy: and went in to speak to Paul the gaffer, what a great bloke he is. anyway I got a pair of boots off the shelf that fit and are fairly comfortable straight away, his knowledge and customer focus is and absolute joy  :bow-blue:

I've had mine three years now and am still happy with them. It's great to find a company which will make bespoke boots.

Opinion is divided.
I know some who like yourself are impressed with Altberg.
Others including myself find them an utterly woeful company, where the customer is always wrong.
Good luck. I hope your Altberg experience is beyter than mine

Love my Altbergs.  Also bought from the shop in Richmond.  Maybe they are better face to face?

I did buy from them in Richmond.
Each time I have been there have been customers returning boots which should have set alarm bells ringing!

I appreciate some have good service.

Never dealt with the shop/factory directly but have two pairs of boots, not sweaty in summer yet truly waterproof, very pleased with them.

I bought a pair of Altberg Bike boots from the Scottish bike show about 8 Years ! Great boots :happydance: all I ever wear now, and I've been doing  6000 to 10,000 miles a year in all weathers !
I now wear Altberg boots for everyday use and as work boots !
You tend to need to buy a half size bigger than you normally wear but if in doubt contact them I've always found them Helpful. :thumb:

Anyone wanting a cheaper alternative, try Army extreme weather boots, proper Gortex, thicker leather and better made than Altbergs - only about £65 brand new too (check ebay)
They take an age to break in but once they do, they are very comfy, warm & dry.

Went there, got fitted, paid. Boots turn up when they said they would, but not quite the right size. They accept returns for just about everything apart from being the wrong size ...

Had my first pair from the BMF show, about 20 years ago. Still going strong. I thought one of the newer styles might be worth a try and I bought a pair from the factory at Richmond. They are only 10 years old. Best boots I by far. I have had many alternatives from the best to some of the cheapest, still like my Altbergs!
