Fuel Tank Panel
« on: May 16, 2024, 14:37:32 »
Hi all, I was a bit silly and managed to clip my mate when I pulled out of a roundabout assuming he had went and in fact he hadn’t, so at a few MPH I managed to damage the panels round the left hand side of the fuel tank. I have the blue/grey/white 2019 DL1000 and I am having trouble trying to find the replacement part on eBay etc and I’d like to try a  dealer at last resort. If anyone knows where I could get a replacement or even a good repair it is very much appreciated!

Could a body shop not repair it & re-spray it for you?

I’m not too sure. It’s the plastic panels that surround the fuel tank, forgot to mention that part.

Not sure if you have an A or an XA but it should be obvious from the panels and stickers in these diagrams.
It might be easier tou source the right part with a part number or these blokes themselves might be cheaper than a main dealer price in the UK.

Failing that, just ride to a load of interesting places and cover all the dings and scratches with stickers ;)

That’s a pretty good website and is the first bit of progress I have had since it happened. I’ve scraped the paint off a little bit of my crash bars so might do the sticker trick with that!

Webike might also be cheaper than here if you want new panels: https://japan.webike.net

For the crash bars, Satin black paint (I use the brush on hammerite stuff for small bits) seems to be the right colour, but check on yours before use. For larger areas you might be better spraying.

I would recommend webike. I used them a week or so ago to get a debeak. Answered my queries and the part arrived in a week during a Japan and UK holiday period.
