Well I eventually did it
« on: July 08, 2020, 07:44:54 »
Good day everyone.

I have been on bikes for .........Oh my goodness that long!

Started out on a brand new Suzuki TS185 (orange and silver tank) and went through a list of different bikes such as, Bandits 600 to 1200, Triumph 955i to 1050, Honda pan European but for the vast majority of recent times BMW RT's and GS's 850 to 1200. I sold my last GS in April 2019 believing after all these years I was finished with biking.

The saying " old bikers never die their leathers just get tighter" is definitely true. Don't ask me how I know  During the lockdown idle hands started looking at bikes again and the short story is I decided to give myself a budget to put a new face in the garage. I was determined not to exceed the budget as I didn't want to go back to having lots of money tied up in a depreciating asset which was being used intensively for a few weeks whilst touring the Continent each year and then on short to medium trips out on weekends for 8 months of the year. After much searching around and going to look at a few "Private Sellers" offerings I purchased a late 2017 V Strom 1000 with light miles from the same dealer I bought my very first motorbike from. I've come home :)

Off the top of my head I could answers all the BMW questions: Tyres, Oil, what's that noise, should it be doing that, best luggage, cost of services, what's in a "big" service etc etc. I now have to relearn what the Suzuki needs are so decided to joint this Forum for a bit of expert knowledge.  At this point I would ask for a bit of forbearance, please don't shoot me down for asking what old hands see as obvious questions. My long winded intro here explains that ...I think!

If you have read to this point I thank you for your interest.
