Anakee 3 mileage?
« on: May 16, 2015, 00:24:43 »
Hi
Has anyone worn out a set of Anakee 3s on a 650? I'm trying to work out if I will need a new set before I do a 3k mile trip in June. I will have done 8k on the current tyres by the time I set out. Will they go to 11k?

It's difficult to say as everyone's usage and road types vary which means one persons mileage is different from anothers. I got 9000 out of my set when I had a wee.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

Personally I'd change them as do you want to be doing a long trip on tyres that are getting to the end of their life, with reduced tread and more squared. And, do you want the faff of trying to replace them en-route in somewhere you're unfamiliar with?

But keep the old ones as a spare set if nothing else.

As per John's post. I put III's on around 11,500 miles and now at 19k. Plenty of tread left but they've squared off a bit. Think I'll get another 3k from them but I'm not going on any long distance trips...

Thanks
The figures given fit with my thoughts on what to expect. The tyres look good for a bit but probably a good idea to change them just before I go.
It's also a good excuse to try to wear them out before June.
As a mater of interest, I have replaced a tyre in the past when abroad. Rolled into a moto garage at 4pm on a Saturday and rolled out at 5pm with a new front tyre. Try that here.

Starting to square off too much at just over 6,000 mls, ordered my anakee 2 for fitting after the chip run tomorrow
