Anakee 3
« on: January 29, 2013, 20:52:02 »
After finally swapping out my Death Wings for Anakee 2's, and having done less than 2 miles on them so far .... I see there is now an Anakee 3. The new "3" has a tread pattern inside the tread and a compound that will last longer than a "2".

Anyone else seen them or interested in getting a pair fitted?

They are not on the Michelin Web Site yet.

Talking of Anakee 3's , how'd you get on with your valve clearance check/adj ?

I think they're going to be shite off road, if they've stopped making the Anakee 2 I'll be fitting the K60 Scouts next time.   :angry-tappingfoot:

I'm having a pair of those next, will skip the 2s I think.. They look like they mean business, and if Michelin have developed them as a replacement for the 2s I can't see them being a step down in performance..

They might be a bit better on road, but I can't see them being as good on road

Exactly what I need, more road bias. The true dual sport rubber compromises too much road ability..

Ach, with the anakee2's I can scrap pegs hard wet or dry and get the back wheel off the ground pretty happily on tarmac. I can't see the need for any more on-road grip on the wee. The feel you get is pretty good too - I imagine most of the floppyness comes from the forks and bars to be honest...

They're not a bad price -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Michelin-ANAK ... 5aedb38651

very reasonable for 'new' tyres.

I think they're designed for the GS owners club members.

you know the bikers that buy an adventure bike to have a massive adventure to he shops and back and will never let the bike get covered in any dirt let alone ride on it.

Yeahbutnobut

why do a review and

1). not write down what your going to say before you say it to camera
2). Understand what you are reviewing and actually address the important issue (every knows it was going to be good on road so we were only interested in the "off-road" bit. So why not try gravel - this looks like hard packed dirt. No Mud. No wet.
3) Compare it to the previous model.

looks OK on the dirt though - Poor Sod was floored a few times, hope he was alright! At least he was able to hold his own

He did say that he would use them in alaska, I presume its on the hard packed hardcore surfaces they use in the wretched provinces.

I'll need new tyres soon so I'm still confusted
It's not my fault, it's your fault. I told you I was stupid but you didn't listen!

I've just ordered a pair of these strange looking Anakee 3's and they're getting fitted on Thursday. Once settled in I shall give a review.

I saw them online at around that price as well. For them to be fitted wheels only +£30, ride in +£60.

But my local tyre supplier will order the pair, and do 'ride in' fit for £245 inclusive, which I thought was not bad and saves me any hassle. I'm a bit lazy like that  :auto-dirtbike:

A puncture has prematurely brought my original fitment rear Trailwing to an end at 4,400 miles. I have read many bad reports about the Trailwings but despite a fairly hard life they have never given me any scarey moments in wet or dry conditions.
Having read so many glowing reports about the Anakees I decided to make enquiries about putting one on the rear of  my DL650 whilst leaving the Trailwing on the front for the time being - my local bike tyre shop confirmed that such a mix would be OK so I accepted his quote for  an Anakee 3 to be fitted to the rear for £105.
I will report back when I have a few miles on the new tyre.
When I retired I bought my Wee 8 months ago with 2k on the clock and I think it is a great little bike. I enjoy this forum greatly and have picked up many tips and bits of useful advice from a most knowledgeable band of contributors - please keep up the  good work and I will try to put forward my tuppence worth when I have something worthwhile to contribute.
All the best

Alan
