Starter motor

Hi All a couple of weeks ago my 2016 V Strom 1000 al5 broke down wouldn't start  I checked out the usual stuff wiring connections. clutch switch I even put new battery on to no avail since had the starter motor checked out and I of magnet has come and destroyed  the insides of the motor and a new one is £800 plus so does any one have starter motor kicking about or were to get one many thanks

Looks like the starter motor went unchanged from the DL1000 launch in 2002 until the 1050 came out with an updated part so any starter listed on eBay for a DL1000 will fit (SV1000, KLV1000 as well as alternative search options). Plenty of options in and around the £50-£80, I would suggest getting a new o-ring for it though before you fit it, just in case (Part Number 31156-48B00).
Some sellers will list the age and mileage of the bike the part came off so a trawl round might get you a fairly recent one for a lot less than new.
