KTM 1190R

Great to meat many of you at `Fat Rat`s' end of summer bash in Wales, top marks to him and his good lady for thinking of everything.
The KTM 1190R was no match in it`s road tyres to cross the `marsh' as easily as did the knobbly bearing KTM 400 of which was brought out by the host to show it  should be done!
But Wales proved the KTM can do corners well, copes well with all surfaces and has more power than actually needed, BUT, it is one of the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE tourers I have ever ridden. Being that it was designed as a `round the world' challenger to match the BMW1200`s, it scores 3/10 for saddle friendly. I have reverted back to the Vstrom with 107K miles to continue my regular jaunts up the motorways on business and keep the KTM for `Grin factor 10' on the weekends. Nuff said!

A pal has a KTM (1190 I think) and it is not comfortable. To be fair he does tour on it.

It's a tall bike and he's not that tall so always worrying about stopping/starting.

It's maybe a matter of form over function?

I moved from a Vstrom 650 to a KTM 1190 adv about 12 months ago. The standard seat on the KTM is uncomfortable. I changed mine for the KTM powerparts heated seat which is excellent. Good for 400 miles day long riding.
