My Area Manager was in my office today. Aha, thinks I, he has come to tell the posties who are also parents how we are going to deal with the school closures.
No. Just come to see why we are booking overtime. Parcels are at near-Christmas levels, it's insanity gone mad

Panic buyers from the past weeks won't get fined as they have no need to go out to shop now for months...

@ Rusty -  Reality permeates upwards at a rate controlled by its acceptability. Orders and instructions are propelled downwards at a rate controlled by the weight (power)  of the originator of said instructions. These two opposing forces tend to meet at the front line where it becomes apparent that the people at the top have no idea what is going on at the front line.

I've heard France is paying everyone's bills so I guess the fines is a measure to retrieve their costs..

@Brockett have you dusted off your train driver's outfit yet? All this talk of returning essential workers I instantly thought of you :)

On the upside the roads are much quieter this week. :lala:

A nice ride this weekend with the quiet roads me thinks.

we had a meeting at work today and the bank of England has informed us to prepare for a lock down within the M25, (no date given) banks are also running out off money as people panic and withdraw what they can, madness.

@TLP Train Drivers are not classed as essential workers because they do not deliver toilet paper.

According to the newly released govt. list, I am now a key worker. My kids can still go to school. She's 32 now, I bet she bunks off. A customer moaned at me yesterday that the junk mail is still getting through as normal. I told her it would be a very valuable resource if the loo roll situation carries on.

With all the doom and gloom talk going on
I think of this.

All we were doing in work yesterday was whistling the tune.

My landlord is not classed as a essential worker !!!!!! who is making these rules ?????? he has had to close the food side of the pub and says if this weekends sales are down he will consider closing altogether..... Many other pubs must be in the same situation, I think the reason Boris didn't close them is because it would be bad PR... But he has closed them indirectly .... Is this the end of the world as we know it ??  :old:

@Rusty, I have also been identified as a key worker. Do you think we deserve a sub-forum similar to Traitor's Corner but without the stigma?

How about a rideout at some point where we and other key workers can meet (at a safe distance of course) and discuss our new social status. :stirpot:

Do you think we will be allowed a bog roll ration?

Are retired key workers (communications business) and part time breakfast testers allowed into this 'superior' members affiliation.
I am more than happy to stay as far away from you as possible!!

I think it is easier to say who isn't a key worker, I fall into the bracket as key worker but can luckily work from home.

on another note retired medical staff being call on, are most of them not in the most at risk age, who thought of that idea.

I wouldn’t ask too many questions Falk.B.
You may get called up again as an emergency worker. :)
