Looking at Givi website, their plate and their SRA3112 does have struts which fasten to the end of the seat subframe. If the 1000 is like my 2012 650, the chunky rear grabhandle/carrier is made of a strong plastic. It's held on by two bolts at the front of the grabs and two more halfway along the carrier. The top boxes then overhang the carrier, which can lead to some wobbling, sometimes amplified by the rear latch bouncing on its "toblerone" fitting. This is probably why Suzuki and Givi are both supplying bracing struts to fit under the load platform. I am part way rhrough cobbling some together for my 650. The big silvery rack looks chunky, but at the end of the day it's a plastic cantilever.... or springboard, if you want to be harsh.
