Title: Intermittent missfire
Post by: 2pac on August 12, 2018, 15:40:41
Hello blokes , anyone had this problem , I have a 02 DL1000 , twice now when going on a long run it starts to missfire one one cylinder , you can visibly see unburnt vapour exiting the left exhaust and the bike kangaroos while your riding it , switched it off and restarted and it was fine , did 1650 miles around Europe and it never missed a beat , had a run to Wales last week band it happened again !  Any ideas ??

My first thoughts are dodgy spark plug or coil breaking down. If you know which cylinder is misfiring  then swap over one or other part and see if the problem moves cylinder.

Edit: also just check that the spark plug caps are on securely!

Aye, as tallpaul says, and also especially since your bike is getting on a bit (happens to us all), check the plug caps and leads. My bet would be coil though
