2008 DL1000 - SOLD
« on: April 23, 2019, 09:15:12 »
Unfortunately the Bike has been sat for a year now and rather than repairing the damage on the fairings I am considering parting it out or selling it.

Just trying to guage interest in it before I decide either way.

Anyone interested in parts?

Its a DL1000GT- Pearl black.

Starts and runs fine- purely cosmetic damage and some rust from being sat!

Pictures will follow.

Attached (Hopefully) are some good pictures of everything wrong with the bike!

In terms of history I am missing most of the recent documents- much of which is largely irrelevant now given how long it has sat exposed to the elements- I can however probably get copies from my regular garage if someone wanted them.

It has had 2 owners from new, including myself. The bike was very well looked after until I dropped it in the rain due to a poorly signed police road closure 2 years ago. The bike is NOT CAT anything- still clean on the V5 etc. The latest MOT was completely clean- that was post accident too.

Unfortunately the bike became a project I fully intended to complete but kept pushing back and the bike has now been sat for too long- Hopefully someone wants to give it some life.

Good bits-
Tyres are relatively new.
Had a new stator and rotor just after I dropped it.

Bad bits- To Do list:

Urgent-
Although the chain has done less than 50 miles, it has sat for too long- I wouldn't ride such a heavy bike with a rusty chain!
Needs a service of course.

Cosmetic stuff:

Some rust needs cleaning/ repainting- I have pictured the worst of it.
Crash bars were beyond repair- I was going to replace them with mushrooms
Road rash + cracks on LS fairings- I've pictured all of them.
LS pillion hangar needs replacing- Currently works fine- I wedged a 1p coin in there to make it sit right to get the wife home post drop
I suspect the handlebars need replacing or straightening.
Downpipes need cleaning + polishing etc- You can see in the picture I had a crack at a small section earlier to see how far the rust goes- its surface only but starting to pit.

Extras: They are scratched but I do have all 3 standard panniers. Top box sadly had its lock broken in Belgium. Someone clearly wanted my dirty socks but changed their mind when they saw the green stripes.

I am happy to take more pictures etc of anything specific or even give any bits a better clean for someone if they want to see what is rust/dirt etc (No, I won't detail the whole thing, the more I clean the less I want it gone!)

The keener eyes amongst you may have noticed the fairings are currently sat on not bolted down- this was because I was going to replace some of the ls ones but didn't manage to sort reasonably priced ones (IMO). They shall be bolted on properly later today or tomorrow.

I shall have an accurate Millage tomorrow and update- its less and 50k though, only did a month or so of riding post last mot (49005 miles at mot)

Price- I would like £1000 including the panniers. I am not sure what it is worth but that is what I would pay for it- feel free to PM me offers above that if you think I am underselling.

May list on ebay later in the week but would prefer not to feed the Ebay Corporate Machine

Bike is Located in Buxton, Derbyshire
