"Pop" on rev'ing
« on: March 13, 2022, 05:27:11 »
I have noticed a few occasions where my 21.000 KM 1050 "pop"s (sound) when opening the throttle after idleing. Well... actually maybe you wouldn't call it idleing, but if I pull the clutch without engaging it immediately right after, I often flip the throttle, so maybe this happens before actually reaching idle RPMs.

I recall my 650 from 2017 did the same only this would stall immediately after.

I don't think it is backfire... I guess it is more like coming from exhaust...?

Hi Bonne. I'm no mechanic but it sounds like one of three things. Air getting in to your exhaust, faulty injector or and I think most likely, start your bike then put your helmet on, zip up your jacket and put your gloves on. Then you will have noticed the REV's drop. I think that extra time to warm the engine or at least wait for the choke to close. You know this anyway don't you.  :)
Good luck with it  :thumb:

Sorry. To put it simply, are you sure you're not pulling away before the engine is warmed up enough to deactivate the choke? Having said that, I don't think that is your problem because today I started my bike and rode off straight away and it run sweet. Someone more clever than me may be able to help more. Sorry for the confusion.  :thumb:

Any chance that this could be due to unburnt fuel in the exhaust. Rich mixture + flip the throttle?

Very occasionally my vee coughs through the airbox if I try to blip on downshift having allowed the revs to drop really low in the previous gear. I think possibly going from what I assume is zero fuelling when engine braking to suddenly asking for revs from very low rpm leads to a momentary stall. It always picks straight back up again so I've not worried about it.

That sounds like my issue, Rix.
