Long kick/side stand
« on: March 11, 2022, 22:04:56 »
Hiya after some advice please.
I have changed my vstrom suspension around to increase ground clearance on my wee. I had the original side stand extended by a work college who did a bit of welding. He hasn’t done a great job, as the weld cracked after not a huge amount of use. Anyway he took it back to sort out and I am half convinced he has lost it.
So I potentially need to replace it but if I am doing that then I makes sense to try and buy something long enough.
I added nearly 4” to the side stand to make it lean at a sensible angle. So does anyone know of a bike with the same sort of top mount but significantly longer?
Thinking drz, XT660, Tenere, AT…..
Thank you for your help!

Four inches is a significant increase, personally I would either cut the foot off and add a solid bar inside before extending or add an outer tube of seamless steam pipe.

To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

There are various adjustable side stands on the market (google it) but I have never used one so can't recommend any particular brand. They can be bought for very little money too.  :thumb:

I suggest you find someone who can weld.
