All the adjustable ones I've seen are made of the finest Chineseium and are guaranteed to snap on the first use.

Generally the best option is a second hand one and have it cut down.

Cut the foot off.  cut a section out of the stand and weld the foot back on

I'd slug it internally too, if I was doing that.

no need to slug it. I haven't cut the shaft. just the flat foot off the end. then cut about 3/4" of the length and weld the flat foot back on.

I see. The only ones I've seen were cut part way.

I had mine cut down and the foot welded back on, I've now put the bike back to standard.

I filed the side stand stop so the stand swings a bit further forward - this in effect shortens it and makes the bike less likely to roll forward off the stand.

Care to share any pix and advice, should anyone else want to follow your example, with regards the side stand stop modification?

The sidestand swings forward till it hits a square steel stop. I filed this stop till I was happy with the lean angle - nothing complicated, just a bit slow. If the bike was to be reset to normal height suspension, its only 2 bolts to take off the side stand assembly when a spot of weld could be put back on the stop to take it back to normal.

Thanks for your reply. I did read something similar wrt a side stand / kick stand mod for a more stable lean angle, in https://www.stromtrooper.com/threads/kickstand-modification.432423/. From those pix posted, it appears that the mod in the Stromtrooper thread, may perhaps allow for a bit more lean angle than that of your mod of the stand stop. Without your pix to reference, I could be mistaken. Hence the request for a pix or three, for better understanding.
