Winter ride on my DL650. The Trossachs.
« on: February 02, 2015, 07:12:32 »
First time I've managed to get out in 2015. Bloomin' life and work getting in the way of the important stuff...

I was out for seven hours, but the GoPro battery doesn't last that long!

Nice Ride out!,

I would look at your positioning of the Camera though, id say its chest mounted, Very difficult to see anything and in the terrible event of an incident you can't see what's ahead on the road with the footage.

I have mind mounted here its detachable.

1) no it is not heavy you don't even feel a difference
2) it is not in your view point at all
3) you can talk into the mic at the back if you have the open back door and its clear and audible
4) It captures everything you are looking at the whole road and your perspective.

:)

Nice scenery D.C. Good call from listermint on camera location though! :)

Nice mirrors! What are they from? Do they make a difference with regard to the dreaded buffeting?

I'd be unhappy with that chinbar mounted camera (irrelevant to me as I have neither a full face helmet nor a camera.....)

But if you were to come off and hit the road obliquely that could easily catch and spin your head round with tragic results.

I agree on the positioning of the camera. It's not ideal and yes, chest mounted.  I'm a wee bit uncomfortable with helmet mounting as a strapped on mount could be bad in the event of an accident and GoPro have failed upon questioning to confirm that the adhesive used on their mounts is helmet safe, unless someone can provide a link that says something different?  The adhesive mount would certainly just come off in the event of an accident.

The chest mount is fine on my two other bikes. No windscreens!

Also,  are they not the standard mirrors? They were on the bike when I got it! They don't catch the wind much and they do provide a good view behind.

Doesn't sound like the Suzuki ones  lol

Picture here of the ones fitted to the Glee which seem to be the same as the Wee and Veeks offerings:

You could easily smash your face into your handlebar. I could easily do a lot of things ultimately it's a motorbike and as safe as how you try to control it.

In any event that go pro is most definitely cracking off the helmet should anything come in contact with it. As has been demonstrated many times by various destroyed go pros.

Anyway it was just some direction op if you wanted to improve the quality of your images.

Safety is personal so wouldn't press anyone either direction. Many think open faces aren't safe either. Personal choice

Appreciated. If GoPro would either confirm that their adhesive is helmet safe or release a mount that is, then I'd definitely consider sticking mine on in the same place. I have used an adhesive helmet mount on my tree climbing helmet and can confirm that they simply come off with a sudden impact, even though they seem pretty stubbornly stuck on.
