Storm cases mounted onto OEM pannier frames
« on: February 17, 2009, 21:10:48 »
Hi all

I got the inspiration for this from this post

http://11109.rapidforum.com/topic=108775700202

Hope this helps someone out there...

Fabricated brackets
Using 3mm and 2mm aluminum plate

The bottom part of the bracket I got pressed locally £20 for 1 metre length.

The others I made myself in my garage

I used JB weld to join all the bracket together

Drilled a hole and used an eyebolt so I can secure with padlock

tested the fit

bolted the bracket to the case after measuring and making sure the cases were lined up right.

used 2 aluminum bars (covered them in duck tape to stop the ali rubbing on gear)

Fitted onto bike

I used inner tube (bicycle) on the insides of the brackets to stop them rubbing the metal on the pannier frame.

During the mounting stage I used Lead sealant to waterproof the joins (tested this in my shower and it was fine) also used rubber washers.

Hopefully this will help someone

Cheers
Geordie
