Clean down with wire brush, fix graphics with pop rivets.

Silicone spray? Wouldn't have it near my garage as it's a nightmare to get totally rid of from surfaces, and it wrecks spray paint jobs.

Proper solvent panel wipe is the best thing I've found, but the closest you're likely to have around is brake cleaner - spray onto a rag, wipe the panel down and you should get rid of enough of it to allow the decals to stick with a couple of goes. Thoroughly wash your hands before touching the decals.

And take the silicone & throw it in the nearest bin afterwards...

Plus 1 for disk brake cleaner.
I used it to remove the old adhesive residue before applying a new tank pad and it worked beautifully. Tank came up spotless and dry, new pad stuck like the proverbial.

I'd heard silicone was a nightmare for painters. Mostly guitar polish, but the principle applies for vehicle paint too.

Glad the majority will laugh at this advice, the rest however ...  :smirk:

Brake fluid ...

Just leave it to soak for 10 minutes, then wipe off ... job done . 👍

Mine get a rub over with gt85, which allegedly has Teflon in. Probably just as much of a nuisance for a painter.

GT85 here as well, if you want them a bit shiny that is.
If not then matte finish dashboard cleaner gives them a flatter look.
Black trim wax for me as well if they start to look a little greyed out.

Ditch the decals and fit these (came already fitted on mine).
I wouldn't be without them, when you start to explore the potential of the bike :auto-dirtbike: you will realise why...

A new set of plastics is cheaper than a paint job on the KTM,  I reckon. So don't worry about repainting.
