davef, which model V-Strom do you have? Your profile doesn't list your ride information.

The AL0 Wee was the last of the old (and IMHO the best) shape. Although it looks the same as a K9 Wee, it isn't. The frame is different and from personal experience the AL0 engine bars do not fit the K9  and there may well be other differences. This seems strange that Suzuki should change the model at the end of it's production run and then introduce the Glee from 2011. I rather suspect the AL0 frame is the same as the Glee frame. Although it may, on paper, be a mish mash between the Wee and the Glee I think it was the the best looking model and then Suzuki lost the plot with the transition to  Glee & Gleek . The later models may have modern electrickery but there was no reason the older shape could not be retained. The only parts that needed an upgrade were the two pot sliding caliper brakes but as far as I know they have been carried on up until now.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

I also prefer the analogue clocks to the later digital ones- think they are easier to read in bright light. I had test ridden a new Glee and was intending to buy one when I saw the one I have, had a test ride and was so impressed bought it on the spot.
Spoke to Elctrex World today and they suggested this mosfet universal regulator/rectifier RR58H https://www.electrexworld.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?WD=rr58h&PN=RR58H%2ehtml#SID=439, they claim its ultra reliable, so I've ordered it. It doesn't have the standard plugs which may make it easier to fit and has 2 wires to connect direct to the battery with ring terminals. Should I fit an inline fuse or OK to fit direct? I thought to alter the wiring route so its not necessary to remove the air box to get to it.

Personal I'd fit an in-line fuse on the live

Quick update. Fitted the universal mosfet regulator. Need to cut off the 3-blade plug from the alternator which actually made it much easier to fit - no need to remove the airbox. The 2 leads to the battery were too short so had to be extended by about 5in. Took it for a run today and all seems good, with it sat at 14.3-14.5 volts. So thanks for all the help.
