Any Plumbers in?
« on: May 05, 2021, 19:06:42 »
I need some tips please.....

I am bringing water to my new (outside) Toilet/Shower using 20mm Alkathene. I don't really want to take the Alkathene inside the building. What I would like to do is have a neat through the wall solution which converts from Alkathene to (either) 15mm copper or plastic push fit pipe.

Any elegant solutions?

Did you mean to post that in a 2 point font?  :old:

I'm good with adapting from Alkathene to 15mm but I was wondering if there was a neat through the wall solution  :thumb:

Re: fonts, whenever I paste a link it always defaults to tiny. I forgot to re-format it that time.

Is this because you were in such a hurry to get the concrete down you forgot to bring the water pipe up through the floor?

 That is definitely something I would do, just not this time.

When I did the last Showers it was easy because there is a Kitchen area at one end and bringing an ugly blue pipe up through the floor was okay. Because the new building is only a single toilet/shower, I was hoping for something more elegant.

Normally we run a duct in a concrete base from outside to inside at 90 degrees and then cut off at ground level inside and seal with the appropriate material, in your case expanding foam etc.?

Also, in the past on water supply instrument installations we go from 20mm blue poly into a female threaded plasson adaptor into a male threaded pvc glue-in adaptor and route / clip the pvc pipe to close to where needed, before changing to final choice, I.e. copper or plastic?
