Hermes again
« on: May 05, 2021, 18:41:33 »
Since Hermes were unable to deliver to me I have always opted click and collect from my local Argos. Today Hermes messaged me a missed delivery. How surprised was I at their suggestion that Argos wasn't home to take the delivery. Bunch of tossers.....

They really are shit. I used them for a while because their collection service saved me going to the Post Office. Everything is okay until you need to speak to a real person from Hermes. Everything is automated and not in a good way.  :angry-banghead:

I've only had one of those with Hermes click & collect and it turned out that Argos had refused the delivery because their code wasn't clear enough on the parcel. Oddly, they took it the next day without any change, so it's not always Hermes. Usually, but not always.

I don't do C&C now for 2 reasons: Argos closed the local branch, and our current normal driver is a very pleasant young lady, who just happens to be quite pretty as well.

It would make Martin's request disturbing if he'd read it like Kwackboy...

One of the problems with living out here on the peninsular is machine stupidity ( machine learning in reverse).  When google and othe guilty services looks at my address it does not recognise the Stour Estuary. e.g. when I looked for Argos the closest was shown to be in Felixstowe 2.5 miles away - well yes but only by helicopter; by road it is over 50 miles.  Parcel depots based in Ipswich are nearer,  as the crow flies, but colchester would be a more convenient choice. But no... all these couriers and other (non) delivery companies all look at google to find the nearest depot and direct my parcels there. Once there the delivery 'oik' looks at the address and thinks "sod that for a game of soldiers" and decides beforehand that I won't be home and he /she cannot therefore deliver the parcel and it's not his / her fault. I am fed up with having to drive to Ipswich and such places to collect my 'free delivery parcels' and so from now on I will let the delivery fail and claim my money back. I will also endevour to discover the name of the delivery courrier company before placing my order.  If it's Hermes I'll not bother. :topic_closed:
