Washers
« on: March 06, 2021, 15:12:14 »
The VX project has gound to a halt. I painted the wheels and swing arm and attempted to install them. I got the new swing arm bearing kit (£191.00) out of it's little bag and set about it. Ah Play in the works. look in the service book. It shows a thrust washer each side between the dust seal and the bearing spacer. It's not in the kit. ### ( imagine my language) I call the dealer. It isn't listed as part of the kit. BUT IT'S A BLOODY KIT. Surley the word implies all I need will be in there. It makes no difference now.  So I order a pair od washers. "Emer chis it?"..  £4.40.. "for two washers?" .. No each! .... and - And - AND they're on back order and there is no date for delivery in the system.  ( me having a  good old swear) ### ### ### ### ###. Of course there is no size shown in the service book so I go onto Ebay and order what I think might fit given the pin is 20mm and metal part of the seal into which it fits is about 30mm. And, of course, they only sell them in 10s.
So it's 10 of 20x28 x 0.5mm and 10 of 20x28 x 1.0 mm. They promise delivery by next Wednesday so :handgestures-fingerscrossed: I'm getting so bored I've started tidying the garage and you know what that means. Yes next week I won't be able to find anything.  :dl_hyperhysteria:

 :groan:

I feel your pain ...

I've just finished rebuilding a set of carbs for my Honda CB500.
Bought a second hand set for £100, I asked the seller "are they a good set?" and was told yes, they came from a good running CB500.
They arrived, I then quickly found out they were in need of some TLC (they leaked petrol from the joining tubes) and to get them up to spec they needed some new seals which set me back over £60 ..!! For four seals .!!  :dl_smiley_banghead:

My swear box was full that day and I'm now awaiting a part refund for the carbs for which I don't think I'll receive....  :dl_smiley_banghead:

Ebay is a good home for liars, chancers, fraudsters and crooks.

Little envelopes and packages call fall down a crack in the space time continuum and right into a black hole.

Diverse? As in, some have holes, some have black holes, some refuse to be categorised by hole?

You’re right Kwackboy!!!  It should be “none white” hole, to be politically correct and not upset anyone, except white people.  Shame on you Brockett!!!    lol lol lol

Hang on.... someone abuses me and now I get the blame.... what?
Washers are a good fit and the Swing arm is now installed, tightened to 80lbs and there is no slop, free play or knocking.
I trust the terms Slop. Free play and knocking do not give rise to further unnecessary comments.
