Coming back
« on: January 15, 2021, 15:58:28 »
Is there an opposite to traitors corner. I wonder if there are many like me who had a strom, 2008 DL1000, then felt the need to sample some of the many alternatives out there. CB1300, FJR1300, GS, RT, KTM super adventure, Guzzi v85tt. Triumphs, Kawasaki and more. Only to finally realise twelve years and many £s later, the big strom was all they really needed. Unsanitised, straightforward biking. I have and I'm loving it.

Yep, similar for me

4 years with DL650A L3
2 years with Africa Twin CRF1000L
Then back to DL650A XT M0 and loving it
I considered a new Triumph Tiger 900 Rally and demo was great to ride
But decided against it as it had loads of stuff I don't want
Far too may buttons on most of the new bikes

I went to look at the bike I have now and was sold almost straightaway by the simplicity of it
Won't use the TC at all though
The engine in the DL650 for me is almost perfect for my needs
Can crawl along down tiny country lanes and feel at ease
But when I want to give it some stick it responds

I did test ride a DL1050 and was impressed by the aesthetics and the build quality
Stunning looking bike in the flesh, but more CC than I need and quite a bit more expensive
Now, if they restyled the 650 to look like the 1050, where do I sign...  :icon_drool5:

I bought a DL650 in 2004 and 17 years later I have realised that I still have it.

A standard frame that they forgot to paint. And forgot to put a "L" in.
The budget option.

It's one where the finish and welds are so perfect that it doesn't need covering in bitumen.
